Renovation of a Characterful House in Nogent-sur-Marne
The renovation of a Meulière house in Nogent-sur-Marne reveals its full charm and restores fluidity.
Location : Nogent-sur-Marne (94)
Full design and construction oversight
Execution : Veneta Cucine (for the kitchen)
Delivery: 2023
This charming meulière house in Nogent-sur-Marne already had many strengths before renovation. The intervention focused on rethinking circulation to create more fluid, connected spaces while enhancing the existing features. Colour schemes, reinterpreted mouldings, and bespoke furniture emphasise the home’s elegance and timeless character.
The new Kitchen is now the Heart of the Home
In this house with a double L-shaped living room, the kitchen was tucked away and cramped. Access from the entrance was awkward, and its small U-shaped layout made it difficult to cook as a family.
The space at the far end of the living room was dark and underused.
The challenge was to keep a separate kitchen without isolating it, while improving flow and reconnecting the living areas.
Before & After floor plan:

We decided to open the wall between the kitchen and the living room. The kitchen now extends into the living area with a bar that creates both visual and functional continuity.
The new layout results in a through-kitchen that is more sociable and ergonomic, with a larger worktop and a better distribution of functions. The formerly dark and unused corner of the living room is now bright and serves as an active part of the home.

Execution : Veneta Cucine
A Stylish, Functional Entrance
The goal was to give character and personality to a very narrow entrance while integrating storage without disrupting circulation.
Decorative mouldings and a bold dark wall colour immediately add presence. This palette creates an enveloping effect, highlighting the staircase and existing details, such as the patterned cement-style flooring.

A bespoke entry unit incorporates a shoe shelf, wall-mounted coat rack, and a small tray for keys, mail, and everyday items. The unit maximises storage within a shallow depth without obstructing movement. Natural oak adds warmth and contrasts with the deep blue walls, while a bright orange coat rack, evoking a tree in winter, brings a playful graphic touch.

Minimalist and clever, this design optimises every centimetre for a practical, welcoming, and elegant entrance.

A Multifunctional Unit in the Glazed Extension
Bathed in light from the glass roof, this bright space adjoining the kitchen and living room serves as both a dining area and a lounge/reading corner.
A multifunctional unit was integrated, combining shelves, storage compartments, and a small supplementary desk. Made from a mix of off-the-shelf elements and bespoke furniture, and highlighted by a burnt-orange feature wall, it structures the space, enlivens the décor, and allows the family to fully enjoy this versatile area throughout the day.
